Essentials

You're gonna need some of the Essential Tools.

Recipe Specific

Loaf Pans

Material and color can make an impact on what you're trying to make. I highly recommend using light color pans over dark ones. If prepared correctly, you don't need it to have a non-stick surface.

Recommendations

Perfect for: Everyone who wants to make loaves of bread and it's super affordable!

Pros:

Non-stick

Stainless steel

Sloped edges

Rounded corners for easy cleanup

Cons:

Coated finish - non-stick surface means you cannot cut the contents inside the pan

Perfect for: Anyone comfortable baking in aluminum.

Pros:

Durable build

Aluminum - heats and cools quickly

Straight sides for even baking

Rounded corners for easy cleanup

Cons:

Not non-stick - not an issue if lined well

Cannot stack well

Perfect for: Baking enthusiasts that make loaves often.

Pros:

Commercial quality

Non-stick

Impressive strength and durability

Stackable

Cons:

Harsh corners - harder to clean

Fine Mesh Strainer

Super versatile! I'm amazed you don't have one already.

Recommendations

Perfect for: EVERYONE!

Pros:

Round shape - fits in most large pots / bowls

Easy to hold / balance - two handles

Feet - stands and elevates food so it doesn't touch a surface

Durable material

Comes in multiple sizes

Cons:

Are there cons to strainers?

Food Processor (optional)

If you're making the smooth version of the paste, I like this option more than the blender because it's easier to clean and use.

Recommendations

Perfect for: People who like to process... their food? This is the newer version of what I have.

Pros:

Large capacity

Easy to use

Easy to clean

Has a safety mechanism

Cons:

Large capacity - not great for small quantities

Perfect for: People who want to process less food?

Pros:

Smaller capacity - you may have to smooth out this recipe in batches

Easy to store

Easy to clean

Blade is removable - unlike other smaller food processors

Cons:

Only 1 speed - it's a bigger coffee grinder but it does it's thing

No pour spout

Blender (optional)

Blenders are versatile kitchen appliances that can be used for a variety of tasks such as making smoothies, crushing ice, and pureeing red beans. They come in different sizes and power levels, with features such as different speeds and pulse settings.

Recommendations

Perfect for: Everyday use and small batch recipes.

You might need to blend in batches.

Pros:

Easily to gauge low, medium, and high speeds

Cord swivels depending

Beaters are easy to clean

Cons:

Only comes with wire beaters so if this is your primary mixing device, maybe find one that has a dough hook or flat paddles if that's something you're interested in.

Perfect for: Large batches and people who really like smoothies

This is a combo of a blender and a processor

Pros:

Large capacity

Variable speed

Multiple blades

Cons:

Tall - remember to measure between the counter + upper cabinets to make sure it fits

Bowl locking mechanism can be tricky at first

Perfect for: Larger batches and avid makers who want semi-professional gear.

This is a newer version of the one I have.

Pros:

Large capacity

Powerful AF motor

Comes with tamper

Smoothest puree ever

Cons:

Expensive - please purchase within your means
