What's red bean paste?

Red bean paste is a popular ingredient in East Asian cuisine that is made by cooking and mashing adzuki beans with sugar. It has a smooth and velvety texture with a sweet and nutty flavor. Make your own with my recipe for Sweetened Red Bean Paste.

Essentials

You're gonna need some of the Essential Tools.

Recipe Specific

Fine Mesh Strainer

Super versatile! I'm amazed you don't have one already.

Recommendations

Perfect for: EVERYONE!

Pros:

Round shape - fits in most large pots / bowls

Easy to hold / balance - two handles

Feet - stands and elevates food so it doesn't touch a surface

Are there cons to strainers?

Food Processor (optional)

If you're making the smooth version of the paste, I like this option more than the blender because it's easier to clean and use.
